Official information about Sona Positioning

Sona Positioning™ is primarily in the movement of the jaw and palate forward.  It is the retro-positioning of the jaw which causes obstruction of the throat, snoring and sleep apnea.  Sona Positioning™ is trademarked and utilized by the Sona Pillow® and the Super Pillow™.

This patented repositioning method which is due to the patented structure of the pillows and gradually moves the jaw forward because of gravity.  As the individual sleeps on that side with the head on the incline surface, the gradual downward sloping of the pillows of our 2 pillows the Sona Pillow® and Super Pillow™ causes the jaw to move forward.

This position is trademarked and patented both Sona Pillow® and and Super Pillow™ are patented.

The moving forward of the jaw prevents obstruction of the throat and prevents snoring and sleep apnea.  This is remarkably different than sleeping on ones side which can be achieved by using any pillow but Sona Positioning™ effectively perfects this by using the Super Pillow™ and the Sona Pillow®.  This positioning using our pillows help with snoring and sleep apnea which occurs because the jaw moves backwards.

Sleeping on our pillows also prevents grinding of the jaw and TMJ and acid reflux. There are multiple other benefits of using Sona Positioning™ which are exponentially improved by using our pillows including but not limited to prevention of snoring, sleep apnea, weight gain, GI reflux, bruxism, grinding of teeth, elevated blood pressure, stroke, dementia, Alzheimer’s, wrinkles, dental cavities, TMJ pain, anti aging, memory and concentration, increasing REM sleep, depression, excessive sleepiness, heart failure, preeclampsia, use with CPAP headgear and instead of CPAP.

Anti-Wrinkle

The Super Pillow™ uses Sona Positioning™ and stops wrinkles by using a smooth even pillow surface and specialized patented shape. Sona Positioning™ and specialized design help create the anti-wrinkle elements of these great pillows.

Solution: Sona Pillow ®

A specialized pillow which consists of a double inclined surface with arm recesses under each side.

The Official Sona Pillow®

Positional Therapy

The goal is to have people who snore to sleep on their side with their arm extended under their head and this moves the jaw forward.

The Official Sona Pillow ®

Jaw forward

Sona Pillow® is effective in not only promoting a side sleeping position but also pushes the jaw forward due to the inclined sleeping position.

The Official Sona Pillow®

Side Sleep Position

People who snore can sleep on one side or the other and hugging a pillow during sleep helps maintain the side sleeping position.

Studies Have Shown

Sona Pillow® is effective for snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, with or without positional dependence. A noninvasive solution.

Positional Therapy with CPAP

CPAP pressure requirements are lower in some people when they sleep in the non supine position, this lowers the end CPAP pressure and increases tolerance and compliance.

Acute CVA

Supine sleep and Positional Sleep Apnea after Acute ischemic stroke was shown to be more prevalent in a recent study. This was directly related to the severity of the stroke.

The Official Sona Pillow®

Acute CVA

Positional obstructive sleep apnea is seen in up to 64% of acute CVA patients.

The Official Sona Pillow®

Acute CVA Solution

Patients who were randomized to use the Sona Pillow® acutely post stroke did better and obstructive sleep apnea was reduced in a study group.

The Official Sona Pillow®

Acute CVA Solution

Study concluded that positional therapy moderately reduces sleep apnea severity after ischemic stroke and may therefore positional therapy improves outcomes. Sleep Med Svatikova A, Chervin RD, Wing JJ, Sanchez BN et al

Approach to Positional Therapy

We now have multiple studies which have shown positional therapy to be an effective means of treatment of OSA, and have methods of doing so with the newer products.

The Official Sona Pillow ®

Approach to Positional Therapy

Positional therapy has been proven to be a more tolerable treatment for sleep apnea, with a 75% compliance and persistent efficacy in lowering the AHI.

The Official Sona Pillow®

Approach to Positional Therapy

This degree of compliance is significantly better than CPAP and or mandibular advancing devices, which is about 30%.
